She now enthusiastically supports children’s participation in play and meaningful routines as an Occupational Therapist. Quinn believes that any learning space is made stronger by the presence of kids with diverse needs and strengths. She is excited to promote accessibility at FLIP, ensuring all kids and families can contribute to an environment of inspired play.

  • Luke Harkness

Luke (He/Him/His) never stopped playing or creating. Growing up in Olympia, Washington, Luke and his brothers spent their boyhood learning about plants, animals, seasons, and stewardship on their maternal grandmother’s farm. He learned about his Swiss cultural heritage on that farm and with it a lifelong love of cultures, language, and history. On special visits to Hood Canal Luke eagerly climbed the 98 steps to the top of the Union Skyhouse, which his paternal grandfather built to be amongst the Douglas fir trees. Inspired by family and surroundings, Luke became handy and creative, working with whatever tools and scrap materials he could find, organizing games and activities with siblings and neighborhood kids.

Adulting hasn’t looked that different - minus the increased responsibilities. Luke loves being a husband and father and helping to make his children’s upbringing magical. He built a pretty neat pirate ship in the backyard, coaches baseball, and enjoys gardening and generally being outside with family and friends. Luke began his career as a middle school History and English teacher, served as a school principal, and now builds schools and other community projects as a project manager.

FLIP is a new opportunity to build communities, be creative, and celebrate the wonder of play from childhood on. Luke is excited to contribute to this great project and to help young people in the Portland area realize their potential.
